A Framework, Not a Fixed Pattern

The Framework Method™ gives you thoughtfully designed templates, characters, poses, scenery, and layout ideas to build from—without prescribing exactly what your quilt must become. Choose the pieces you love, combine them in your own way, and create with both freedom and confidence.

Meet the Front Yard Friends!

The image features a colorful cartoon scene with various animals and a sign that reads "Pickles & Charlie." There are two cartoon ducks, one on roller skates wearing a flower lei and another with a green vest, along with birds, a squirrel, and mole. A bird is perched on a birdhouse, and a woodpecker is pecking at a tree.

Do any critters visit your front yard? Or do you wish they did?

Front Yard Friends was inspired by the adorable feathered and furry friends that share my yard and allow me to be a part of their daily lives. Every character in my Front Yard Friends Collection is based on a real animal or bird that visits my yard.

God filled our neighborhoods with remarkable little neighbors. From ducklings and bunnies, to squirrels, crows, an industrious woodpecker, and one rather opinionated goose, once you pay attention, you realize each one has a personality—and every one has a story.

So, I’ll tell you about my Front Yard Friends…

Then you can create your own.

Notice. Delight. Share.

Because good things are so much better when shared!

What is the Framework Method?

Pickles & Charlie’s Framework Method™ is a creative quilting system built around interchangeable templates. Rather than following one fixed design, you can combine characters, poses, features, scenery, blocks, and layout ideas to create something entirely your own.

Use the techniques you already enjoy—hand or machine appliqué, rotary cutting or AccuQuilt®, traditional piecing, or a mixture of them all. Follow a suggested layout, change every detail, or begin with one character and see where the story leads.

There is no single “right” Framework quilt. I provide the structure, options, and guidance. The creative decisions remain yours.

I’ll provide the framework.

You tell the story.
